olDistrictEmployeeHandbookReceiptNameCampusZdepartmentIherebyacknowledgereceiptofmypersonalcopyoftheMountPleasantISDEmployeeHandbook.Iagreetoreadthehandbookandabidebythestandards,policies,andproceduresdefinedorreferencedinthisdocument.Theinformationinthishandbookissubjecttochange.Iunderstandthatchangesindistrictpoliciesmaysupersede,modify,oreliminatetheinformationsummarizedinthisbooklet.Asthedistrictprovidesupdatedpolicyinformation,Iacceptresponsibilityforreadingandabidingbythechanges.Iunderstandthatnomodificationstocontractualrelationshipsoralterationsofat-willrelationshipsareintendedbythishandbook.IunderstandthatIhaveanobligationtoinformmysupervisorordeparlmentheadofanychangesinpersonalinformation,suchasphonenumber,address,etc.IalsoacceptresponsibilityforcontactingmysupervisorortheDistrict'sPersonnelOffice,903-575-2000,ifIhavequestionsorconcernsorneedfurtherexplanation.SignatureDateNote:Youhavebeengiventwocopiesofthisform.Pleasesignanddateoneandkeepit.Signanddatetheothercopyandforwardittoyoursupervisor.DistrictinformationDescriptionofthedistrictTheMountPleasantIndependentSchoolDistrictislocatednearthecenterofTitusCounty,116mileseastofDallasonInterstate30.TitusCountyencompasses230squaremileswithapopulationofover25,000.MountPleasantisthecountyseatandhasapopulationofapproximately14,000.TheBoardOfTrusteesanditsadministrationareconstantlyseekingtoimproveanalready-excellenlschoolsystem.In2000,theMountPleasantcommunityoverwhelminglyendorsedasignificantcapitalimprovementplanthathasresultedin3newelementaryschools,additionstotheJuniorHigh,anewCafeteriaBuildingatMountPleasantHighSchool,newgynasiums,newfootballfield,track,tenniscourts,andrenovationstotheHighSchool.InstructionfocusesonacomprehensivecollegepreparatoryandCareerandTechnologystudies.ThedistrictiscurrentlyinvestingheavilyincomputerandmultimediaeducationaltechnologyinaefforttomeettheacademicandoccupationaltrainingdemandsofahighlyCompetititveworkplace.ThecurriculumoftheMountPleasantISDiscontinuouslyevaluatedandupdatedinaefforttomeettheneedsofallstudentsandthedemandsofthecommunity,regionalandnationalbusinesses,andindustries.Thedistrictencouragesandwelcomesinvolvementfromparents,civicorganizations,industry,andlocalcitizenstoprovidethebesteducationalopportunitiespossibleforitsstudents.MissionstatementPolicyAEMt.PleasantIndependentSchoolDistrictwillhavehighexpectationsforallstudents.Thedistrictwillmakeeveryefforttoattractandretainthemostqualifiedteachersavailablewhowillenhancethepositiveimageofourschoolsinthecommunity.Thecaringatmosphereprovidedbytheseteacherswillhelppromotethepositiveself-imageforthestudentsinthedistrict.MPISDwillencouragepositivestaffmoralebyprovidingcleanandattractivecampuses.MPISDwillemphasizeateaching/leamingprocessthatwillenablestudentstosee“reallifb“connections.Studentswillbecomeresponsible,productivecitizensbylearningtoactinasociallyacceptablemannerthroughproblem-solving,creativethinking,andwisedecision-making.Authenticcareerinvestigationcoupledwithcurrentvocationalprogramswillmeettheneedsofeachstudent.EnrichedprogrammingwillbedesignedtopreparestudentsforsuccessintheirpersonalfutureintheTwenty-FirstCentury.Technologywillenhanceeveryprogramthroughoutthedistrict.State-of-the-artsoftwareandhardwarewillbeavailabletoeverystudentonadailybasis.Studentswilllearnhowtoaccessinformationfromavarietyofhigh-techsourcesbybecomingproficientusersofcomputersandperipherals.MPISDwilladdresstheimportantissuesof"time"andcommunication.Theoptimumuseofinstructionaltimewillleadtoenhancedprogramsforallstudents.Communicationbetweenschools,administration,schoolboard,community,families,andstudentswillbeopenandhonestandconstantlyimproving.Staff,parents,andcommunitywillbegivenanopportunitytobeinvolvedindecision-makingasweworktogetherthroughtheAcceleratedSchoolsprocess.ThesecombinedeffortswillcontinuetomakeMPISDthebestschooldistrictinthestateofTexas.DistrictgoalsandobjectivesPoliciesAB,AFThemissionoftheTexaspublicsystemistoensurethatallTexaschildrenhaveaccesstoaqualityeducationthatenablesthemtoachievetheirfullpotentialandfullyparticipatenowandinthefutureinthesocial,economic,andeducationalopportunitiesinourstateandnation.ThatmissionisgroundedontheconvictionthatageneraldiffusionofknowledgeisessentialforthewelfareofTexasandforthepreservationofthelibertiesandrightsofTexascitizens.Itisfurthergroundedintheconvictionthatasuccessfulpubliceducationsystemisdirectlyrelatedtoastrong,dedicated,supportivefamilyandthatparentalinvolvementintheschoolisessentialforthemaximumeducationalachievementofachild.Theobjectivesofpubliceducationare:1) Parentswillbefullpartnerswitheducatorsintheeducationoftheirchildren.2) Studentswillbeencouragedandchallengedtomeettheirfulleducationalpotential.3) Throughenhanceddropoutpreventionefforts,allstudentswillremaininschooluntiltheyobtainadiploma.4) Awell-balancedandappropriatecurriculumwillbeprovidedtoallstudents.5) Qualifiedandhighlyeffectivepersonnelwillberecruited,developed,andretained.6) Texasstudentswilldemonstrateexemplaryperformanceincomparisontonationalandinternationalstandards.7) Schoolcampuseswillmaintainasafeanddisciplinedenvironmentconducivetostudentlearning.8) Educatorswillkeepabreastofthedevelopmentofcreativeandinnovativetechniquesininstructionandadministrationusingthosetechniquesasappropriatetoimprovestudentlearning.9)
